ABOUT HAPLOS

HAPLOS is the first ever lay-support group for Filipino people with hemophilia in the Philippines.

Its members are People with Hemophilia (PWH), their families and caregivers, volunteers, advocates, and medical and paramedical practitioners who have interest in hemophilia.

Haplos programs are aimed to enable PWH to be physically active, mentally sharp, socially involved, emotionally healthy, spiritually strong citizens who are willing and able to participate in nation building.

ABOUT HEMOPHILIA

Hemophilia is a hereditary, congenital bleeding disorder due to a deficiency in blood clotting factor.

This prevents an affected individual from forming a strong and stable blood clot, and causes People with Hemophilia (PWH) to bleed for longer periods of time than people whose blood factor levels are normal.

The main problem for PWH is bleeding internally, often into muscles and joints, causing pain and potentially permanent disability.
